i have a very loud noise coming from my power steering pump and i'm not sure whats causing it. do they just go bad cause the fluid levels are fine and i can't find any leaks. i've also checked the tension of the belt and thats fine to. but the fluid smells burnt i was wondering what else could cause this to happen before i put a new pump in and then that one goes bad to. or could it just be old age i have 95,000 on my taco. My next problem is my idle and i'm hoping that its part of the power steering belt but not likely.my truck will idle really high then go really low and when i start to go at a traffic like i feel like its ready to stall if i don't give it alot of gas. i read in the previous thread that it could be the tps i think but i'm not sure what that is or where any input would be greatly welcomed

Then go for the TPS. Mine has done relatively the same thing. As for the power steering problem I'm not sure but you may want to take the belt off and fully inspect the pulley assy.
