i have a 1997 ext cab 4x4 2.7 tacoma, i cant this thing to give up some power. it kicks into overdrive on the slightest inclines which causes the engine to rev. i changed the oil, trans fluid, spark plugs/wires, air filter. it doesnt have a distributor cap so what does it have? and does that need to also be replaced ? i see other tacomas fly right by me. i also have 33.5x12 tires, and ohh its an automatic. please let me know if there some more tune up things i can do. ps. i also did the pour denatured alcohol into a full gas tank.

u mean it kicks out of overdrive. the 33s and the auto arent helpin ya. also remember there are a lot of 3.4L tacomas out there. if u want more power doing maintinence isnt goin to help. i would look at a header or a cam for it. also regearing will give back some pep that you lost with the tires

It has coil packs on top of half of your cylinders. They are quite costly to replace. If I remember right it cost me like 150 bucks to change them when i had my 95, Didn't receive any change in performance though. Look in to a header and such as rockcrawlintoy suggested.

Those coil packs last a long time and you'll know when they need to be replaced. You need gears if your gonna continue to run 33's and a auto trans and a 4 banger. A header would help but not as much as you need to get back what you've given up.

Some 5.29 gears should put you back around stock, and get your power and mpg back.
