The fuel door light next to my gas guage never goes off?? Is it suppsoe to alway be on i have checked to make sure my gas cap is secure and that the door is shut any suggestions please
I drive an 02 tacoma TRD offroad SR5 v6 4x4 with a 3" body lift but the light has been on before i put the lift on.
and a little off the subject during the process of putting on my b/l i broke my fuel filler hose i used a radiator hose as a quick fix since it was slightly longer it fit a lil better then the stock anyway but should i be worried about the gas eating the hose?

I'm suprised your B/L didn't come with the longer hose, mine did.

just take a peice of wire and close the circuit on it i dont know where the contact points are but it shouldnt be hard and then you dont have to worry bout it

I never knew I have a fuel door light. Mine must be broken.too. Based on my mistakes: radiator hoses get soft and disolve when exposed to gasoline. The hose for fuel filler or fuel line is gas, oil & alcohol resistant. Change your hose soon.

Never noticed light before. This thread made me aware. Can't not look at it! I think the light has always been on but I never knew. I suspect a factory defect, related to the fuel-filler hose recall. I bet when they replaced filler hoses on Tacomas, dealers didn't reconnect fuel door light wires. Check through side view mirror to make sure fuel door's shut. Gonna look up wiring schematic 4 fuel door in FSM's. Anyone needs info, I'll post it in day or 2. :

I checked everywhere in my 03 Taco sevice manuals-all 3 books-they don't mention or show a fuel door warning light, anywhere. I'm not shocked-There's other parts that get attached in the factory, but don't show up in their service manuals. Try finding the factory-installed trailer wiring harness and its hidden fuses. Or the factory-installed keyless entry system-it's not there either. :shootme:
