I have a stock '02 prerunner v6 ext cab and i'm looking to put in a locker so that i'll have more traction in the sand. i'm baja 1k bound in november as a chase truck. anyone have suggestions? i'm tight in the budget, but would like something that i can turn on/off, as it's my daily driver.
can anyone tell me anything techie about the diff and axles/gearing? i'm running the 265/70 16s that are 'stock size' with stock wheels.
i'm just a little worried about getting stuck in the silt beds if my friend's buggy needs an extra spare or fuel.
thanks!

I take it that yours is a non-TRD pre-runner which doesn't come with the factory e-locker. Well if budget is your problem well I hate to tell you but most selectable lockers are very expensive. Have you looked at soft lockers such as Aussie or Lockrite? They will run you e few hundred. Your gears are gonna be either 3:90 or 4:10's If you'ld like you can PM me your vin# I can run it through Toyota and tell you your exact set-up.

For the Aussie go to the bottom of the page and click on links Aussie is one of the first few links listed. For the Lockrite try 4wheel parts Marlin Crawler alot of the gear ring & pinion suppliers sell them.
