I am new to this site and also a new toyota owner. the toy is not new but a 2000 sr5 ext cab 4x4 5-speed with 120k. I have read a few of your forums trying to diagnos the problem of missing or power loss when engine is cold but goes away after engine warms up. am planning on new plugs and wires and will go with oem's seeing that is everyone's consensus, but not too sure on sensors and replacements or their definitions as most are abbreviated and what they do. will some parts stores do a diagnostic test for free as stated in some forums, or is it best to take it to an authorized dealer? problem is when shifting through gears when cold, it cuts out about halfway through the power band but goes away after the engine has warmed up. also, it did not come with an owners manual, where should i get a replacement? thanks!!

it may be a long shot but check your coolant temp sensor. as for an owners manual i think there is a company that makes the manuals for everyone but a dealer will be able to get you a new one.

If you look on Ebay you may find a manual there much cheaper than a dealer. Your on the right track with plugs and wires but here are a few more things to do to a 2.7 with that many miles.... A new PCV valve, Clean out the trottle body real well, new air cleaner, fuel filter for sure, Also you need to replace the A/F sensor (Air / Fuel sensor). That needs to be done every 70,000 miles. Clean the amf sensor with electrical contact cleaner. Run a container of Tech- Tron through the gas tank. You can buy it at any auto parts store. Do it after you change the fuel filter. Make sure you remove the battery cable before you start doing any of this. It will cost you a few bucks to do all this but it will be well worth it. Mike PS Here is your manual on line. you may want to save this link or create a shaort cut. www.ncttora.com/fsm/2000/index.html
