Hi everyone....this site has been a big help in making up my mind as to what type of truck to buy.
I have a couple questions I thought you guys could help me with. I am looking to buy the Tacoma Double Cab with the long bed.
1. Can I still get the AC power inverter with the longbed. The brouchure leads me to believe that you cannot, which doesn't make any sense.
2. Is the rear differential lockup available on this model as well?
I am looking at getting this truck fully loaded so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Dave

Get 'TRD Offroad 4x4' package-comes w/ rr electric locker (aka "rear differential lockup") & lots of front & rear supension/rolling stock upgrades. Get Aisin front manual hubs installed if available as option or you'll be installing them later, trust me. The ac inverter isn't powerfull enough for real practical use-you need at least 800-1000 watts continuous as in a 80% duty cycle. I don't think their inverter is worth the $$. It's not hard to add electrical stuff. Isolate your wiring with separate fuse box & relay. The mpg's will suck-alot less than Toyota claims-like 12-14 mpg tops. You get Toyota reliability but IMHO the dble cabs have gotten big and plush. Extra gadgets and deluxe stuff add weight & give you something else to malfunction. I love my 03 taco dble cab but I would't get another one. Seriously, consider Silverado crew cabs. GM has 100,000 mi warranty which beats Toyota. They'll build it any way you want, plain or fancy. 3 different bed lengths, etc and if you're going to put up with 12 mpg at least you can roar around behind a real V-8 in a fullsize truck that seats six full grown adult males.
