I'm thinking of adding a 3in lift to my 02 tacoma a buddy of mine is giving me a helper spring for the back that should raise me about 3in their but in the front.. i've been looking at spacer lifts from toytec and allprooffroad. But it seems easy enough to make with a welder and some free time. I'd also purchase a dif drop kit and some new shocks for the back. could this be a possibility??

ok here it goes. I got the back of my lift on today my add a leaf but when i tried to get the front custom spacers i couldn't get the spring to compress enough and i'm also trying to put the spacer on top of the shock mount. If that makes any sense. but The spring will just not compress anymore. Any suggestoins??

No offense, I know you've got time & effort in these spacers...but, there's a reason companies put major $$ into R&D. Do you really think this is a good idea? Later...

I'm going to put pics of them on my truck as soon as i get them on. But the problem is that i can't get them on. I can't compress the spring. I have a tool but it won't get them compressed enough to put back between the control arms so any suggestions on how to compress the spring some more. would be great.

Just pull the spring strut units off your truck and get one of your buddys to run up to a place that has a good spring compressor. I will take a total of 5 minutes to do both. And they usually on charged me 20 bucks. Lot better, quicker, and deffently alot SAFER. I have done what your doing several times. Trust me find a phone book and have a shop do it real quick. How tall are your spacers? Are you prerunner or 4wd? 02 4wd max lift 2.5" or you will be buying cv boots often. I have never used a dif drop kit so I don't know if its going to help you any.

The spacer is about 2 3/4 inches but the problem is that i'm not putting the spacer inside the coil thingy it goes on top so i need to compress the whole assembly and while it is compressed put it into the truck. I'm pretty sure the diff drop will help me i'm going to put one of thoose on the same time i put the spacers on. Although i might just put them inside with a few modifications it should work on the inside and then i could do it that way.. we'll see. Thnx for the help

This is how you do it. Take your upper arm aloose and it will go right in. What I have done is have someone stand on the lower arm while I put it in. You dont have to compress the spring to do this. Bolt the spacer on put the top of the assembly in loosely put the three nuts on the top so you have some moving room and get a pry bar and put it under the bottom in of the shock and lift up and push it and at the same time put weight on the lower arm. It will go right in. Stick your bolt in the hole and bump it through with a hamer. It never messed my threads up or any of the trucks I have done.

No but the highest your supposed to lift is 2.5" with auto hubs b/c it eats up your cv boots. Auto hubs spin the cv's 24/7.

well just an update i got it all in an installed and realized that a 3" spacer actually lifted my truck closer to 5 ->6 inches so my cv angles were real bad so i had to take it off due to that and my tire hit my controll arms just driving down the road. so i need new rims with more backspacing and a smaller spacer but i'm broke so it will be a while.
