I recently purchase a 07’ Tacoma 4x4 D/C V6 auto. With only 2,100 miles on the odom I’m experiencing a transmission problem. Has anyone else noticed this and or been able to get the problem resolved? When braking hard or soft between 22 and 18mph the trans. feels as if it is stuck or binding in a gear that is too high for the speed (maybe the torque converter). The truck vibrates, as does the engine to the point of nearly stalling before the trans releases, the engine smoothes out and the truck rolls to a smooth stop. Happens every time. So far two dealers have told me this is a normal characteristic of the truck. I think not! Any ideas, fixes? Thank you!

I would call Toyota not the dealer that is NOT a normal characteristic. The phone # should be in the owners portfolio in the glovebox.

Do you have the 5 Speed tranny or the 6 speed? I talked with a Toyota rep this weekend and he said that he has heard of this problem. He said that right now he had not really heard of a fix or what could be causing this problem.

Dude, it sounds like electronic trans control/TQ-veter malfunct. Electronics are screwing with mechanical function of trans. Get a $79.99 Actron OBD II code reader, it's a good place to start. Plug it in, read the trouble code (available at any discount auto-parts chain store). Toyota dealers are often not as reliable as the trucks they sell: There's a bunch of snake-oil salesmen out there. Stand-up guys are few and far, like other brand's dealerships. Don't let them tell you a broke truck is normal! Buyer beware!
