I am wanting to convert my corner lights to blinkers. I found an article on this at customtacos. Here is the link www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=91I was wondering instead of using the ford 1157 sockets the article uses if i could just use the stock blinker sockets and use a dremel to make the hole in the corner lights bigger. I don't see why you need the ford sockets. Can someone explain why I would need those. If anyone here has done this could you tell me how you did it. Thanks.

An 1157 bulb is the same as the brake/tail light, it has 2 filaments. The stock corner light is single filament.

It's a good conversion. I've done this on other vehicles. I think you're better off keeping the circuits separate w/ 2 bulbs and 2 sockets. You'll have 4 wires, not 3 at each corner. Turn lamps (-) wires connect to relay and the ECU; side lamps (-) wires don't. Mixing return paths together could overload the (very small guage) factory wiring or short out the ECU. IMHO, it's easier and less complex to keep the wiring as is and relocate the bulb sockets. You do need 2 filaments (or bulbs): one for turns (flashes), one for running lights (always on with taillights). Lamp housing is plastic so we need to run negative wires. So there you are: 2 small bulbs should fit into the corner housing fine. Careful drilling into corner lamps; a dremel sounds like the right tool. Please post how it works out. Good Luck!
