so when i lock in the hubs with out the transfer case in 4-wheel and drive i hear a metal on metal noise but the last time i tried to use it it just popped and jumped and made a grinding noise what went wrong?

yeah good call any suggestions? new hubs? front end problem?

I'm sure I could sit around and guess at what it could be all day but here are some places to check and some suggestions on what to do. - Block rear tires / NOT IN 4wd / Hubs NOT locked - Put front suspension on jack stands so tires hang off ground - Rotate tires and listen for tail tail signs of bearing failure - Rotate front driveshaft and listen. - Lock Hubs - Try to rotate tires and front drive shaft should rotate - listen - If nothing comes of that little test, then pulling the hubs or even the third out of the front might be warranted to check for any broken pieces. - Oh yeah - Check CV's for excessive play or wear
Could be worn out hubs, front diff, bearings, transfer case, or other. Use your ears and eyes and get in there. Thats the only way to find it.
