I'm looking on putting a straight front axle on my tacoma & was planning on getting one from a 84 model but the shaft is on the wrong side. What do i need to do this job right? Thanks

The shaft is on the wrong side? Your gonna have to be more specific.

Toyota axle won't work. You need a different front axle, so the shaft will be on the correct (left) side.
D44 from a FSJ is usually used for a Taco SAS.

You can use the Toyota front axle BUT it would be way more expensive to do. You would have to get the RZ conversion trans adapter from Marlin Crawler so you can use an older style tranny (R151 & R150) and the passenger side gear driven T-case. This adds a lot more money to the build. So your better off by doing what fourwd1 suggested. www.marlincrawler.com/htm/transmission/3rzbell.htm

The shape of the diff cover on different models of Dana axles are unique.
Find a picture of one to compare it to.
