Hi guys I just traded my 87 yota in for a 99 4runner sr5 man what a difference. This is just a generic post to get as much info on this thing as possible. It has the 3.4 L V6 with a 5 speed transmission what are the most common problems with these rige to look out for the 4runner does have 156,000 on it. Any little tips or warnings would be much appreciated thanks in advance

I can't believe no one has responded to this by now I don't know enough about the problems of the newer ones to answer, except for one thing. There was a problem with rear axle seals, but I think it was from 96-98, so you may be OK. And the 3.4 is much, much better than the 3.0 it replaced. (OK, I knew 2 things)

;D Sorry 2things are going on. #1, the "holidays", where everybody's supposed to have fun but it really screws up what we're doing. #2, most people I talk to are waiting for their tax check to come in. Then...they'll get busy. BTW, GOOD for you! In a way. I'm partial to the older ones. What Plans do have fore your new one? Later...

I've only had one problem with my '98 3.4L 5-speed and that was with some weird clutch vibration. I've had to learn to live with it though because it's been to the dealer four times and they've even had a conference call with Japan to try and figure it out. Other than that, flawless performance!! I should state that the clutch thing is really more of an annoyance and I'm sure I'll have my 4Runner for many, many more miles.
108,000 and counting, ~Dave
