My dad wants to buy a newer 4runner but he is having a really hard time finding one with a 4cyl did they quit making the 4wds in a 4cyl if so what year? He also wanted to know if the new v6 had the long livity that the old 4 bangers had and waht they get for gas millage. Thanks for all your help.

They dropped the 4 banger in the 2001 model year.
The newer 6 cylinders are good motors but I dont know about mileage. They are built to run superchargers so the bottom ends are very solid.

We used to have a 97 with the 4 cyl motor. It was slooooowwwwwwww. I'd go with the V6 if you have the choice, they are alot peppier for sure.

yes u get alot more power but u sacrifice the relabilaty of the 4 cyl. soo im not sure what your goin for but it is almost gauranteed that the 4cyl will last longer.
