Kinda funny how we all think its more expensive to live somewhere else......
Central NY isn't too bad. Just don't drink, smoke, own property or buy gasoline. See...it isn't too bad here.
I live just west of Syracuse in the Fingerlakes. Lots of older trails that need work to be used again. Problem here is all the trails are cut up and cross private property. You can get on them a few times with no problems, but as soon as you open one up, some idiots find them, wheel them too much and piss off the locals. My friend and I are in the process of opening up an 18mile abandoned RR bed/trail. The property is owned by the NYS thruway Auth. But if we keep it quiet and clean, we can run the trail for the first time in 20yrs.

i think i know the area you live in 94 are loon pond and crystle lake part of the finger lakes i have some good memories of going to places like this as a child with my grandparents beautiful places
every summer my parrents took me to cranbarry lake for 1-2 weeks i loved it there my grandparrents had a 5th wheel camper there for many years it was like the hole family's vacation spot. my dads best friend use to come up and bring his gocart and we'd go to a rest area that was a big ovel like a mile away from the campsite and we would have a blast seeing who could get the fastest time haha it was so funny seeing my dad 6'3 on a gocart made for children or small adults man that was the good old days

Don't want to ruin any memories, but the fingerlakes are a little west of where you are thinking. Other than Oneida lake(NE of Syracuse) the fingerlakes are the only ones you see on a map of the state(excluding of course the Great Lakes) We are between Syracuse and Rochester. Otisco, Owasco, Skaneateles, Cayuga, Seneca, Keuka and Canandaigua. Yes, there are seven.....

As far as wheelin, you need to talk to people.Where are you, just south of Tully?
As far as blocks ( assuming you mean a complete motor minus the FI? ) There's ton's around here now. $500 to $1200 Don't look for motors, look for whole rusted trucks.

Just joined the site, Im from Manlius, just SE of Syracuse....The is some state land south of me, Fabius area, that has some trails...they used to have a lot more, but were ruined and closed...its really not worth a long drive though. Theres also some decent trails i know of in the Adirondacks, but they arent anything great. Im not into anything too serious, both my Yotas are pretty much stock, but always amaze me at what they can do.
As for groups...I know there is a club called Twisted Axels of Syracuse....Im not in it or done anything with em, but have just heard of em. I would be interested in joining in a group though...What would it take to get something started up? Dan
