like i posted before, i ws planning on getting an aussie locker for my 88 v6 toy until i found out its not out yet. so here is my question, since they are priced the same should i wait until the aussie is out or get a lock right. from what i have read the aussie is much more street friendly and tire wear friendly, but never having had a rear locker will putting it in make tire wear noticable to me? and how friendly is the lock right and tire wear does it create? I would appreciate any info on anything

I am installing my Aussie locker tomorow and willl let you know in the future about tire wear. They say that there is no tire wear at all. when you go arount a corner it differentiates the power to the inside tire just like a open diff.

awesome is the only word I can think of to describe the traction. I am still getting used to the driving quirks that come with having a locker. it was easy to install. No big deal . But if you have never worked on a rear end before make sure you can get a hold of someone who knows a lottle about them. The backlash can be kind of confusing.

;D IMO, it will always come down to YOUR use as to what locker is right for you. I installed a Lock-Right in the rear of my '88 Runner V6 in April. It chirps the tires around turns, bangs on hard throttle switchbacks & has given me excellent traction. My opinion is that it lets me know it's working!! No idea on tire wear as it comes out of the garage, goes wheelin' & goes back in. If it would've been available, the Aussie locker would've been on my short list. I'm waiting to see if they bring out one for the front. Bottom line is that, if you're main concern is tire wear, ARB or open are you're only choices. Or, rotate more often. Later...

well, my last question, since i have a guy with a lock-right and a aguy with an aussie locker, how do they perform on the highway. is there any hard kicks when changing lanes, or any weird quirks with either. 86taco how is the aussie in tight turns, does it make your truck buck at all? finally 4xfred, where did you buy you lock-right. i guess if the only difference is noise, and both lockers kick out as much in corners and low speed turns? then i will probably just buy a lock-right, and i like your point on the noises let me know its working. thanks you guys, you have been a huge help!! ;D

It performs well on the highway. Its my daily driver. It does not kickout or make any noise when switching lanes. In a tight turn it just makes a faint clicking sound that you can only hear if you have the radio off and your head out the window. If I am on the gas when going around a corner it will buck a little bit. If I am coasting it unlocks. If i have my foot on the peddle just a little bit its smooth. I have had mine in now for five days and only heard it clunk like twice. That was when I was kind of coasting maybe 5mph and put it in first and gave her some gas. I laid it sideways yesterday on wet pavement for the first time... I juiced it off the light and and she went, it was awesome. the reason I baught the aussie was the intro price. 200$ cant beat that. but you have a v6 so I would go with the lock rite. lockers are definetily worth the money. I climbed up a 4' hill that's about a 45 degrees (I approached it at an angle) in 2-low and my passenger tire was a foot off the ground no problem and no loss of traction. Thats awesome.

i have had mine for a month or so now. i have had no problems. if i get on the gas around a corner the tires chirp a little. it is not bad though. i get people to look at me a lot at gas sations with the real slick ground. it is real quiet. with the radio on i cant ever hear it. i have not had any problems with it raining. but it was fun to get it sideways. if i drive it normal there is no problem.

;D I'll say the same about the LR. I don't even notice it on the street anymore. Sounds like more than one of us (me) is going into their first winter fully locked. This should provide GREAT entertainment!!! Banshee, I got mine from Randy's. If you use them, ask for Paul & tell him Jim's Auto Service in Chester Pa. sent you. Very helpful salesman. Whatever locker you go with, it'll kick ass over stock open. And there IS NO PERFECT LOCKER!! Later...

how do lockers perform on slick roads say snow/ice in 2wd. Is there a lot of mad crazy sideways action. I was thinking about that the otherday when my truck got a little sideways off a stoplight in the rain.

this is a concern i had, since i live on the west side of michigan, and we get lots snow here. i was reading on a nissan xterra offroad site he installed a lock right in his rear, 4wheel drive on slick roads when before he could keep it in 2wheel drive, or it will try to swap ends on slick surfaces because on the loss of a forward stabilizing wheel.

i have to get on it pretty good to get it to slide. if i drive normal then i dont really have a problem. although this is the rain and the snow so i really not sure about the snow.

Me and a couple of my buddies were playing in a little sand dune by the side of the road and got kicked out. We had fun though. He got some major air off the one hill.
