Alright here's a mod for those of you that need more light behind you. Be it for the trail, those damn tailgaters, or what have you.

Nice idea and work for lights out the back. Just some piece of mind from me since I had fog taillights the same way when the Truck was runing in Germany. Make sure the lights and all connections are very very well sealed. When you drive in rain water will hit them with quiet some force and creep into any space and we all know what that is going to do to your connections. I didn't have my lights for a year and they were gone from corrosion on the inside. Now I have them in the rear bumper, looks a lot better and no high speed water gets to them. Sorry, I don't have a pic though.
For brighter back-up lights I replaced my small bulbs with an adapter that allows you to put halogen bulbs in a regular socket. It is not as bright as the 100W PIAA light in a separate housing but a lot better than the original candle light out the back.

Hey thanks for the input I would like to put them in the rear bumper but my exhaust is going through there on either side of the license plate and I can't put them towards the ends because I get alot of mud stuck in the ends I don't have any mudguards

if you just want brighter back up lights, you could get some LED's that plug into the reverse light bulb socket, they sell them at all the discount, advanced, etc. auto parts stores, or of course Ebay, but for 5-10 $ the store is a lot easier. i am in the middle of shaving and recessing my tail lights and replacing with round LED trailer truck lights and will do the fog light/reverse lights underneath too, so i will post pic's in a few days when im done... or get the pics developed to scan. - BeN² 82 sr5 p/u

These are not really " back up lights " If their tied into the back up lights how are you gonna blind tailgaters at 60mph ;D they have to be run by toggle switch

Actually I think they would still be considered back up lights cuz all he's doing is change the bulb out for a brighter one. The only problem with them is they will only point in the direction. You can make them point off to the side a little or down more. Which is nice to have them doing when wheeling at night and need to see the area more around you and not just behind you. These are not really " back up lights " If their tied into the back up lights how are you gonna blind tailgaters at 60mph ;D they have to be run by toggle switch Maybe I should change the title of the tread to BACK-UP/OFF LIGHTS instead

temporaily dismantled to re-do exhaust do to the bumper mount brackets have to change the location I put my dual exhaust tips where they were mounted thinkin about recessing them into the tail gate? I'm not sure yet but I am still leaning more towards your set up that way I can mount them more towards the end I should have it together in a couple of weeks I kinda have to rewire some other lights connectors got wet and I've lost my aux lights so I figure I'll do it all in one shot I'll def take some pics got to take pics of other stuff that I've done

i finished my tail lights, and currently have no reverse lights, but i was thinking about running a toggle switch to the back-up/off lights, so that i can flip them on "when going 60", and also have them wired for normal backing up. on my last vehicle i installed a water gun that shot people who were ridin too close, and the third brake light was wired with the water gun that when illuminated was a winking smiley face... , so they knew it wasn't just my windshield wipers or something accidental- BeN² 82 p/u

we put driving lights on the back of my GFs car because she has tinted back windows and there really hard to see out of. The lights shot out a beam of light. it was like welding, you could only see where the light hits. i always just end up hanging my head out the window and looking back. but if we didnt have the tinted windows it would be super bright. and i think the set of them was like 15$ from auto zone.

i just drilled holes in my reciver hitch square tube and poprivited the light brackets to it there protected fairly well and solid. i wired them to my retchet shifter so they com on with my stock back up lights and i have a switch to use then any other time like in park and hooking up a trailer.
