ok, im putting 6 inch NWOR springs on my 4 runner (maybe 1 inch shackles or 2 inch body, or some fender trimming, depending on how the 37's fit), and 37's, i want a good all around tire, i want them to last reasonably long on the road, but yet i dont want to be let down or embarrassed off the road! i am really really leaning towards the Goodyear MT/Rs in a 37x12.5R15, however i know they excell in rocks, and dirt, however half of the wheeling i will be doing is in the mud, which is better in the goo MT/R's or the BFG MT? and wheels im going with Mickey Thompson Classic II's in a 15x10. if yall would tell me the pros n cons of both i would be very appreciative!

You won't find much difference in mud. Both suck. I love my MTR's in the rocksand sand, but in the mud I wish for swampers. 37MTR's are great and do okay in the mud. Where I am there is much clay and it plugs the tread quickly though. Same went for the BFG's I had prior. Was happy with them every where but the mud. The price difference between 37x12.5-17BFG and 37x12.5-15MTR's made the choice easy.

well right now, on my 88 truck ihave some 33" Uniroyal Laredo M/T's and they have a design almost identical to the BFG MT except the less lugs, a little further apart, and fatter, and i have been very pleased with their mud capabilities, i know that if i had swampers i could go more places, but also, i drive a lot on the street and im not rich enough to have to buy new tires every 12,000 miles or so!! right now i have 8,000 on my laredo M/Ts and they have 80-90% tread left, (and they were only $103 a piece) ;D but anyways im thinkin im gonna go with the MT/R's, but its still open, more info would be very helpful!

actually, i have the issue of petersons with the mud tire test. the mt/r actually went further in the mud than the tsl. the only tires that went further were the SSR's and the boggers. even though the stand for Max Traction/ Rocks.

if you do go for the mt/r's, take a look at www.tirerack.com. my buddy just ordered 37 mt/r's and they were considerably cheaper at tirerack

Guys are getting the 37MTR's from Walmart for 160 a tire mounted and balanced. I was'nt suggesting swampers, I did'nt get them for the reasons youreself mentioned, but I'm sure they would do better in the mud. I too have the tire test issue and can say it was anything but scientific and should be taken with a grain of salt at best. I have 37 MTR's and would not steer you away from them. They are actually quieter on the highway then the BFG's and really sticky in the rocks. Wear a little faster though.
