Which of these two is the best all around tire,, mud vs streetability? I am thinking of one or the other, but i dont want to get beat to death on the highway or easily stuck on the trail.

Well if you dont want to get stuck i would not go with the thorn birds, i have never had them but all i have heard about them is negative, i have even heard many people call them "thorntuds" haha. The tsl are supposed to be exceptional offroad and on, they come in a bias ply and radial form, one of my friends has the radials and they have lasted a very long time and have fairly good road manners considering the extremely agressive tread. I would say go with the tsl.

Ok i was thinking was leaning far toward TSL anyway, but i have to ask a stupid question, what is the difference in bias ply and radial???

I'm kinda new to the 4X4 thing myself so i'm not 100% sure on this but i think the only difference is the way they are made... Bias are MUCH tougher but get flat spots after sitting for a while (which just round out again after driving a couple of miles) and the radials are not quite as tough but dont wear as fast.
Hope that helped

from experience I can say that t'birds are some of the worst tires made. They have more or less destroyed every vehicle I have seen them on including one of mine. I guess they are ok if you don't mind getting them balanced once a week. Otherwise they will quickly reveal anything on your truck that is the least bit loose. I'd go with the tsl's!

I have driven both. The big question is do you drive your truck on the street often. If yes I would not even look at swampers. I had a set of Thornbirds when they first came out. Thornbirds get packed with mud that sticks in the tread voids, if you wheel in mud or muddy areas these will not perform as well. However they are smoother on the street than the tsl and will last longer. The TSLs I had about a year before I sold them last summer. In mud the TSL is amazing, on the trail it is good but on the street it is the worst riding tire I have ever owned which is why I sold them. I have never owned a set of the radial tsl but in my opinion the tread isn't that much different than any other radial mut terrain tire. I am currently running a set of 35x12.50 mud tracs that seem to outperform my TSLs on the trail and in rocks and street performance is great.

a radial is steel belted , bias is polyester or nylon with no steel belts, thornbirds are bias and like most bias plys wear fast on the highway ride like sh*t , but for a trail rig or non daily driver that sees a lot of mud or whatever bias is a good choice , any way thornbirds are mainly a rough looking tire for trucks that dont see dirt and the owners want to look like a bada$$ don't waste your money on them, the swampers or the radial tsl are better tires . and i dont know about the guy that said stay away from swampers on the road . i have ran several different styles of swampers and have gotten better mileage out of all of them . i ran 35 12.50 SSRs on a ford for 63k after that 315 maxxis mudders 20k big difference. all the ones i have owned rode smooth and were loud including the ssrs on my tacoma. , i think the best all around swamper is the SSR

I've had my ssr's on my taco for 43,000 miles and still can get another 10 to 20 only after about 35,000 did they make noise but compared to all the other tires I've had the ssr's have def been the quietest and now with my custom exhaust I really don't hear them I am def gonna buy another set of the 6ply ssr's
