Are wheel adapters safe? I have heard mixed reviews. I was looking to get a set of 1" adapters for my '03 Taco.

1 inch spacers would probably be safe for use on the highway as long a you check the torque on the lugs often and inspect them periodically for cracks or anything like that. Also make sure you get a quality set. Don't get cast aluminum spacers. Make sure they are steel . You might get a little more wheel bearing wear but it shouldn't be much compared to the 2 inch spacers. They are Illegal in most states as well so keep that in mind.
