In my experience BFG's wear better then Goodyears do. This is from using both on trucks and cars. On the flip side Goodyears grip better because of thier softer compound. This is especially useful in rockcrawling, but not really any use in the mud. The BFG is definately a more effective mud tire, while the MTR is a better rockcrawling tire which side walls hold up better to abuse caused by rock crawling as well as the added traction. Ive had my MTRs for almost two years and they are still going strong. Some chunks missing from lugs here and there and definately some tread wear, but lots of tread left. That being said I dont put many miles on my 4runner nor do I track my mileage so Im not really sure the mileage of them.

i have been in the mud with my MTRs along with other trucks that had BFGs i say they worked the same they are both not that great in mud. the upside with the MTR u get a better sidewall. the milage is prolly close. i have 20k miles on my MTRs with a detroit in the rear of the 20k miles 2k are off road. and i have well over 1/2 tread left. if u want a good mud tire go bogger or go home also have the HP to back it up. also there isnt goin to be a good mud tire thats is goin to last a long time. there is goin to be a comprimise made between wear and performance. although the bickshot mudder is a really hard tread so u might wanna check those out

two words "BAJA CLAW" MY freinds and I have been running them for almost 2 years and never had any problems. They run 35's for hardcore rockcrawlin and they have never had any problems. Baja Claw's are awesome all around tires that tare through just about anything. When has mickey thompson ever gone wrong?

they went wrong when they made that tire. the only ones i have seen work are i think 38s that were sticky tread and run backwards.

The BFG MTs are a good choice.
The GY MTRs have proven to be disappointing in the mud, and are hard to balance.
The best choice of course would be any of the Interco line of tires (Swampers, etc), but the BFGs would be better for a DD (better wear).

If it's a DD you could get BFG M/T OR SWAMPER SSR'S depending how thick of a sidewall you want if your talking about a straight mud tire then GROUND HAWGS OR BOGGERS but it's been my expierience the GROUND HAWGS just flat out handle the sloppy stuff better in thick stuff they are fairly equal would never even consider running anything made by goodyear and no comment on the baja claws haven't used them yet but are on the experiment list probably the end of the year I'll give them a try

The baja claws suck unless they are 38" tall tires. THey have a couple of clean out grooves in the center. A buddy of mine has the 38" x 16.5 wide on his truck and the only thing that beats them in the mud is the bogger. and hes got well over600 horse to turn them.

first off, this is just my opinion...but those baja's suck. they are for the weekend off roader.
Call me old fashion, bu the BFG's have done me well. For the longest time, I only had 2 wheel drive, with a set BFG's, I could follow an 03 wrangler just about anyhere... then again I was driving a TOY!
your choice bud...i recomend the bfg's

I run 33'' expl pro-comp mud terrains. excellent all around tire(street/mud) Got snow and ice up here(cny) and the siping works wonders on a mud tire. If you watch the adds(from that catalog,i mean magazine they send out) you can get them cheeeeeeeap.(i got 4-delivered for $520 33x12.5x15). Since you are only 16 yrs old and assuming your in school.....how about checking your local swap sheets. ANYTHING is good if the price is right and its better than what you've got.
