I have always trusted and seen super swampers live up the their name! But today i will attest that they didnt match up to my general grabber M/T's. The Generals run cheaper and have really seemed to out perform the TSL Radial by far. But i guess its all in location. We deal with a lot of virginia red clay, and its nasty.
The Tsl's job of cleaning out really didnt work! The tires kept cumming up and turned to a race slick. The only benifit is the third lug that sticks way the hell out on the tread.
The General Grabbers cleaned out 98% of the time, with not one failur in mind. I was thuroughly impressed by how a cheap mud tire performed. Plus tire life is tremendously longer with the grabbers over the TSL's.
I am not tryin to harp on Interco's swamper, but i just figured that people ought to know that capabilities of what the under-rated general M/T's can do.

What kind of vehicles were the tires on? What size tires? And I would have to actually see your General Grabbers outperform the TSL's in person to actually believe it.

Well the generals are a 33x12.50 on my yota, and the tsl radials are a 36x14.50 on a 500 hp powerstroke. They should have cleaned out with that much power!!! My buddy now wants to sell the powerstroke and get a toyota! Im not harping on Super Swampers, i have seen them do great. I guess its just the soil type here and everytthing else that came into play. Its not the first time i have seen my generals outperform his tsl. Even in 6 inches his would gum up real bad and turn to a slick! Its just what i have seen, im not tryin to sit here and make up a bullshit story for no reason!

Not for nothin but, can't really blame the tires here. Your truck might weigh 4500 max. That pooper Duty's gotta be 7-8k!!! Also notice his fronts buried. Kinda like putting a fat girl in high heels on soft ground. Not knockin the grabbers at all. Good tire. Though balance of weight and tire spin ability are what keeps the lugs open. 500HP and 800Torque mean nothing. When was the last time you saw a tractor trailer spin its tires fast enough to unload mud? This is actually the only reason I run 33x12.5's on my toy. I had 31x10.5's'' swamper and couldn't spin them fast enough to unload them. They are now on a ramcharger and are fantastic. I just needed a larger footprint. Stew

Stew exactly what i was gonna say. i'd think weight would be a big part of the whole sinking situation.... "Kinda like putting a fat girl in high heels on soft ground." haha, awesome..... [edit] btw, i'm not saying i don't believe you... i do! cause i know for a fact a toyota can do a whole lot more than a behemoth powerstroke ford! that's why i got a yota![/edit]

I i understand the whole weight thing a lot! I know its a big ass truck and what not, but what gets me is the way he was spinnin and the fact they wouldnt clean out what so ever thats what i was tryin to get at. Now i dont kno if the weight has something to do with cleanout or what? But, i saw that truck in 4wd high eating it, you could hear it shift into second and 3rd at times and the tires still werent cleaning out!!! heres one more thing, on my wheels i have the simulate beadlocks and there is a ring where the bolts go through. Well, that ring had filled up with mud...i mean clay and dried up slightly and i couldnt even bust it out of there with a power washer the next day!! I had to use a screw driver and a hammer to get it out! So maybe it was just the soil type and he just happened to dig down and catch hold of that nasty clay and couldnt do anything with it! It was a bad night, took his tractor and another powerstroke to get him out! 6 hrs later he was free!!! His truck has always been my dream truck to own! An 01 powerstroke 6 inch skyjacker on 36's with some bolt on performance stuff( power programmer set at 120 hp and 175 ftlbs), k&n, 5 inch exhaust from the turbo houseing out 12 inches then changes to 6 inches! Its a bad unit on the road!! But it deserves a set of 44s to do anything almost!

But that's exactly what I'm trying to say..... The tires are still undersized for the truck. Obviously they were able to dig down. They'd dig to China if the frame and axles didn't stop them, loaded or not. I'd personally rather float over most mud than find the bottom. The tires won't actually "unload" all mud from the treads. Contact pressure will dictate the amount of traction available per surface. Less surface area per weight applied will create too high of a contact pressure compacting the mud tightly and deeply into the tread. More surface area for the applied weight will have a lower compaction rate.....This techically does not equal more traction in all cases, but it does equal floation and "treading lightly" on other terrains. Yea i totally understand what you are sayin man!! I guess a lot of it is, that i thought the old ford and some swampers would do a lot better then what it did. I guess i didnt take a lot into consideration, i just thoguth that truck would be unstopable with all that power its got and decent meats under it! Its all good i reckon! gives us somethin to talk about here!!! ;D
