I read a question that someone had about wheel spacers but knowone told him why wheel spacers were bad or good. I got a 85 toy that has 33x12.50's and the front tires rub so I was thinking that wheel spacers and longer shakles might do the trick. And don't say just lift your truck because I can't lift it the way that I want until I get either a bigger garage or a new place to store it. What do ya say?

The main thing with wheel spacers is they can cause your lugnuts to loosen up. Basically just check them. After you have them for a little bit you'll know how often you have to check them/retighten them. Other than that i'm not aware of any problems but maybe someone else?

I was also planning on cutting my fenders or getting some of those rock crawling fiber glass fenders from downey off road but I am still curious about any advantages of wheel spacers?

A set of 1.5" each (3" total) wheel spacers along with the rear axle from a truck with IFS will make your truck much more stable and will help prevent that rubbing as well as allowing your suspension wo work better (inboards the springs more).
Of course there are disadvantages....you need to be careful about the legality of the spacers. In addition, you NEED to use threadlockers and make sure they'er good and tight ALL the time. After that the only problem really is that they will POSSIBLY accelerate wheelbearing wear, but I haven't seen that thus far with mine.

Anytime ;D
One more thought...you may well have MORE rubbing with them because the scrub radius will increase...instead of the tier pivoting in the middle of the tread, it will pivot in more. That's why narrow tires fit better than wide tires. Still, it's not a bad swap...stability is great and being able to more effectively use your suspension is nice. Check out All Pro for spacers. I paid $75 for mine and their customer service is second to none. Also...be on the look out for that IFS rear axle as the wheel spacers will make the front 3 inches wider otherwise. Everything should just bolt on (get new u-bolts) and certainly will help. As it is I'm looking for a set of wheels with more offset even with my "wide" set up...stability rocks
