I'm looking at getting some long lasting tires for my runner and just wanted peoples opinions on what muddies last the longest? or even if they think a particular AT is great offroad and lasts longer. I would be after something about 35"x12.5"x15, which seems like a common size. Price matters not. Cheers, Roger

BFG MT's, my friend has had his forever(6 plus years) on a daily driver and is only now thinking of replacing them. My roommate has a Rubicon with Wrangler MTR's and they are showing significant wear for a Jeep with 26,000 miles.

I agree with the Copper's also. They are a great tire. You cant go wrong with a TOYO or COOPER. Both have surprising performance on the road. They walk all over BFG and other comparable tires when it comes to all around performance.

Cooper doesn't show an M/T tire, just a STT. Is that the tire you are taking about?

I'm looking at getting some long lasting tires for my runner and just wanted peoples opinions ...Price matters not. Cheers, Roger My 2 cents...The OLD design Goodyear LT tires were junk but the NEW SilentArmor AT & MTR are excellent. BFG A/T-T/A's on my 2003 taco dblecab 4x4. BFG's were good offroad, average on road, dangerous in rain/snow/ice. Wore out in 25000 miles (not long lasting). Upgraded to new design SilentArmor MTR's. 45,000 mi & not even half worn down. SilentArmor's corner great on highway at hi speeds, climb over anything, self-clean great, no punctures and have very stong multi-ply sidewalls. I'll never drive with anything else. I put the Wrnglr AT SilArm on wife's 2000 chereeokee.Tires make her XJ ride & corner almost as good as my yota on its old BFG's (huge improvement for a j--p). ;D Go to Tire Rack website and read thousands of tire reviews. I learned alot from that site. Then I found cheapest price and bought locally (support indie truck/car and hot rod shops-or they'll disappear).

Maybe the Goodyear MTR and the AT tyres are made of crapper stuff here (Australia) but everyone I talk to that have them on there rigs say they ware out way too fast and will never buy them again. Something to think about, where are the good tyres made? who makes what good and where?

Something to think about, where are the good tyres made? who makes what good and where? My local tire distrib. sez Michelin, Goodyear, BFG, Uniroyal sold here (n.e. US) all made by Goodyear in US plants. Goodyear completely changed compounds and construction when they joined Michelin[Check out Goodyear's website]. I've heard earlier Goodyear offroad truck tires were P>O>S>. [Go to TIRERACK.com for 10,000 reviews of every tire ever made]. I still say NEW DESIGN GoodYear SilentArmor AT's or MTR's R best tires I've ever had. Just MHO...

why the heat on BFG AT's? i've been running them since i have my truck. 137000 miles and i'm only half way thru my third set. and i think i beat them up and put the tire through its paces. i cant see how anyone could wear them out in 25000 miles other than doing brake-stands

BFG AT's have got to be the best all around tire for wear, traction, and road noise, but a little pricey.

BFG's are lasty--I haven't had much experience with other tires. I have wildcats right now and they seem to wear nicely.

How many miles did you get from them? I got over 70k from a set of SSR's and they still had a little bit of meat on them.As long as you rotate them religeously they will last a long time. I'm on my third set. My rig is very close to having 200k on the ticker and I've been running the SSR's since the truck had between 27k and 32k on it. They are well worth every penny. IMHO
