If someone doesn't do a lot (pretty much none) off roading...would getting just a body lift be ok? I just want to make room for bigger tires..any suggestions on what is the easiest and best way to do this?

it would be fine. a lot of people do that. if done right it does not look bad.
just wondering what you are putting this on and what are you trying to run.

I've got a '03 4x4 v6 Tacoma...I'm wanting to put some type of mud tires probably 285's or maybe 33/12.50...How much of a lift would I need to clear 285's?

A 3'' body should clear those 285's, it would run you less than 100$ on ebay.

Body lifts are not bad for people that areon a low budget or just wanting to stuff some bigger tires on there. Three inchlift is good enough but to run the 285's or the 33x12.50's you would need to get a bigger rim... If yours has the 16" rim you would want to go with a 15x10 rim because they are cheaper and the tires you stick on there will be cheaper.... See what you can find on a tire package deal on ebay or 4wheelparts.com...

Body lift's are good for a low budget lift that maintains the factory rid quality. You should not have any problem running 285's with one, but you won't want to use 33X12.50. If you ever hit a bump with the tire's turned you will rub really bad. However, If you really want to run 33X12.50's get a one inch spacer from either Cornfed or Protech, both are good products. The body lift on the 01 taco's and newer cost about 250.00 bucks and they are alot of work to install. If you use an offset rim you will also want to do the "Pinch Weld Mod". www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?page=index_v2&id=9&c=3
