hey guys, i am new to this forum but i figured someone on here could answer my questions. i am about to buy a 87 runner turbo. factory suspension. i want to lift is as high as possible without getting into drive shaft issues etc. also, i want to put tires on it that look good but dont strain the motor. the biggest lift i see for the is 4" which would be fine, but are there any driveshaft issues at that height. i can make 4 links(track bars)...do it all the time, check out my website www.gravity-werx.com under 4 links. is there a way i can just link the front and rear and mount springs? thanks for any info you have. i am new to 4wd but my brother is a veteran. he has a 03 jeep rubicon tomb rader with a 5.5" and 36's . but he knows jeeps, not toyotas. and i am a toyota man, i have an 86 sr5 2wd turbo, and an 89 22re 2wd std cab as well. so i am a toyota man die hard. thanks mike

If you have the experience it would be easy.
I know some people that are doing that right now on the rear of an 85 Runner, and they have no previous experience with that sort of thing, but are mechenically inclined. They cut the entire back-half of the frame off and went tube also.
Astro van coils are popular, as well as coil-over shocks.

I don't know if you are new to Toyota's, but to acheive good lift with good flex a lot of people do a solid axle swap with leaf springs. Not as fancy as a 4 link set up, but not nearly as difficult to set up. If you and your bro have welding equipment and fabrication skills you can even do it for fairly reasonable money. www.allprooffroad.com/solid.html
