I just ordered a 2" performance accessories body lift for my 1986 4x4 22re manual pickup. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with their lifts or if you have any tips on the installation? Thanks in advance.

I put a 3" on my auto trans 4runner. With the 2" you might now have any of these issues.
Here's the only tips I can give you.
- Disconnect any wires, hoses etc that mount to the body and engine if they look like they will be short
- As you lift each side; lift a little then check if anything is pulling tight; lift more check again; keep repeating so nothing gets stretched to far
- Try to lift the body as evenly as possible; I'm not sure when it happened but my passengers side body was shifted forward and the bolt holes wouldn't line up. It wasn't a problem when stock but when trying to get the bolts through the blocks it became a major problem
- Install poly body mount bushings while you are doing it; since it is all apart this is the time to replace the crappy rubber ones.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to disconnect the radiator mounts?

I installed the 3 inch body lift from performance on my 94 2wd manual Truck and it worked great. You will have to unbolt the radiator but you can do that without having to drain the system. The kit comes with everything you need. Make sure you have acess to a good welder for the shifters. I welded it poorly and when I put it in reverse to get out of the garage it broke. The spacers for both sticks are included. Also you have to unbolt the bumper and put the brakets on it to make it look right, I think I had to cut minor stuff on the inside of the bumper, but it depends on what you have. For the lines, ease it up and check check check. My lines were all good to go without any mods, might be different for you though. You will also replace the plate that the steering runs through the firewall. Get some insulating material to keep it from making noise and also most important to keep noise out of the cab. Overall get a 2 or better 4 hydraulic car jacks to raise it up evenly and plan on 1 maybe 2 days to do it. That was me doing it with not much experience.
Hope this helps, have fun!

you dont want to lift it all at once , there is a chance of the body sliding off completely , i would loosen the bolts on one side , and remove them on the other side, lift thats side ,insert the blocks and bolts , start all bolts ,and snug them dont tighten ,then lift the other side, doing this way you rarely get misaligned ,and disconnecting everything under the hood is your choice , i did the first 2 or 3 i installed and it wasnt really necessary, the only thing that got in a bind was the fan shroud, i would pull the fan and the shroud, the gas tank filler neck and the shifters. you will need another person , someone to run the jack or insert the blocks and bolts, body lifts are easy installs ,most of the time. these are just my opinions take them as you will. good luck.

When I installed my BL in my runner, it took me and a buddy a half hour. The only thing we didn't remember was the radiator mount. But we did notice it at the last minute, before anything broke. But really easy!!! HAVE FUN!
