I have a 91 4runner with auto tranny and the guy at 4wheel parts unlimited told me that i could lift it 4 inches max. is this true because i want 35's?

Mine is lifted about 6" but i think if you are sticking with the IFS crap then 4" is your limit. If 4" isn't enough to clear 35's trim the fenders or get a small body lift. If you have a few thousand do an SAS and get all the lift you want.

SAS? never heard of it....i'm new to the lift scene but ya know it didn't make sense that I could only achieve 4" of lift. Are you talking about swapping to straight axles and get rid of the IFS? I want to get enough lift for 35's so would i be able to add maybe a 2" or 3" body lift with the 4" IFS lift or would it just screw with the IFS lift? Would i only have to trim out the front panel below the front bumper or would i have to cut into the fender as well as the rear fenders too? so many questions..

SAS= solid axle swap-you were correct. When you swap to a solid axle the lift comes from the leaf spring instead of a drop bracket so you can acheive as much lift as you want. If you reread my original post I did mention that yes you can run a body lift on top of the 4" suspension lift. 2" with the 4" suspension will clear 35's with no trimming. 4" no body lift and you will have to trim the rear for sure because it flexes way more then the front. I'm not sure about the front as I have never had an IFS lift personally.
If you plan to off road with IFS an 35's you are going to have some breakage. The solid axle is much stronger as well as offering massive advantages in wheel travel and articulation.

Thats what I'm looking for! I'm gonna print some of this stuff up and take it to that fatass that told me that they can't get a body lift under the 4runner and tell him that he just lost my business because of his "I don't know shit but I'll tell you different" attitude. I hate people like that....you were a big help sean!
