I have a 89, std cab, 22RE, 5spd, pu with a 5.5" susp. lift. I have a 4" Pcomp susp. lift + cranked Swayaway torsions 1.5" for the front and 1.5" NWOR springs for the rear........it works great although it's a little stiff.........Lots actually..........can't wait till I break the ifs, so I can do SAS.
Other mods besides the lift(s): 35" Muds ( 36" swampers next ) 8x15 black rockcrawlers smittybuilts front/ rear hella vison plus heads hella Black magics Downey header Flowmaster 40 K&N 5:29's Quicklocks accel coil nwor idler plus truss twin optimas energy swaybar quick disconnect
Future mods:
SAS ( soon as IFS breaks )
engine swap ( soon as 22RE dies ) ( either 4.3 or V8)

Don't have a pic or a scanner or digital camera, but I can tell you the 2nd is mounted in the bed with a isolator inline before it............

The point of this thread is to tell people that you can get more susp. lift........real lift that counts not mall runnin' body lifts out of your ifs yota, if you do it this way.
1. 4" susp lift
2. 25mm swayaway torsion bars cranked 1.5"
3. NWOR 1.5" springs for the rear

i dont really see much diff. between an ifs lift and a body lift. except the cost between them. ifs lift all you are doing is dropping down the brackets. your not gaining travel.

Well a IFS susp lift is MUCH better than a body lift .....the IFS lift actually liftsyour susp up 4" to (1) create clearance for going over obstacles, and (2) allow for bigger tires that allow even more clearance over obstacles..........as far as travel .........it certainly becomes stiffer , which limits travel, but if you want articulation, spend the $ 3000 for a SAS ( parts/ labor ).
I personally didn't have that amount when I lifted 4 years ago.........I've recently put the bigger 1.5" springs over the 4" blocks in the rear and cranked the swayaways 1.5" for the front............it's stiff, but I don't rub rocks like an unlifted ifs yota does or drag my susp. through the mud, like a Stocky one does........
Body lifts suck ...........ask any one who's had them.......all they do is allow room for bigger tires, so you get to bash your suspension and drag it through the mud, plus it sucks driving a body lifted mall truck on the street ( watch those corners ) ...........
and finally , there's a reason that ifs lifts are $ 700 and body lifts are $ 100........... what do you think the reason is ............um................you get the much desired susp. lift with the ifs lift , versus you mess your truck up with a body lift ..............remember you get what you pay for................but don't believe me ........ask other people here why they don't run body lifts .........and you'll see ...........
as soon as I break my IFS, which will be soon, ( mines already bent ) i'm gonna do a SAS........
