No you dont have to get a new drag or pitman with a bodylift. With the body lift ur lifting the body off the frame so you dont have to worry about the steering

i hear that the northwest off-road specialties lift is pretty good. i have an '82 as well and intend on putting a 2 inch spring lift on, within the next couple of weeks. i plan on running the bilstein shocks that they sell too. i guess the shocks are a little pricey, $74 per, but worth it. let me know what you decide to go with. thank's

I have the NWOR 3.5in lift springs. They give lift for fitting tires, but ride ruff and dont have the best flex out there. For me though this is ok. For the wheeling I do (mostly trails and mud) I don't need a lot of flex. Also having the stiff, unforgiving springs I can take corners a lot faster than any lifted truck should (not that i recoment doing this) Not saying this is a GOOD thing, I just think it is fun outrunning some people in cars on curvey roads (still not saying this is a wise thing to do) However, if I was to do it again I would either go cheap and put my old rears up front customized a little and some chevys in the rear and fab spring hangers, shackles, and whatever else I might need (still might do this in about a year) or go with allpro, marlin, AOR, or any of the other higher quality spring vendors. As far as shocks, I have hecklethorn Hydro somethings. They work, but I hear the bilsteins are shinny

Now that's a new one well, what else do you have to offer, without running me broke?

All-Pro 3" springs. have you thought about a shackle lift? If you only want a 2" lift do blocks or shackles. they're not the best solution but they are cheap and if your not doing any hard wheeling you shouldn't have any problems.
If it were me I would go with the AllPro springs or some Marlin Crawler springs.

Is there much cut'n'weld involved in putting the rear springs on the front? Also, I have been reading old threads about the chevy spring conversion trying to decide if it's the way I should go. It sounds like a good way to get lift, flexibility AND a soft ride. But how much fab is involved? And am I gonna have to bribe the next machanic that crawls under my rig to do a vehicle safety inspection?

Here is a post on pirate4x4 with pics n descriptions of what some of them used up front. rears up front www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=265669more of a steering oriented link, but I found it interesting www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285216I also believe you need crossover steering if you go rears up front, which is not cheap to buy, but with the travel they give I believe you would need the crossover if you use the travel, and the problem discussed in the above link(dont know first hand though) However with my not so flexy NWOR springs I hear my drop pitman arm arguing at times and cant turn right as sharp as before the lift Crossover steering links www.allprooffroad.com/steering.htmmarlincrawler.com/steering.htmlsky-manufacturing.comWould like to be more helpful, but with not doing it myself this is all I can provide without possibly making a fool of myself or worse giving you false info
