I am wanting a lift for looks only. I am only going to run 31's. My question will a small lift 2-3 inches hurt longevity of drivetrain parts? CV joints, ujoints? Different pinion angle hurting things? I will probably go with a cornfed 2.5 or 3. But if I could get away with a 2 and not hurt anything I would. Add a leafs in the back for sure. So guys I want this truck to run for a long time. Will a lift hurt anything? 97 Taco extcab 2.7 5spd 4x4.

you dont need a lift to run 31's. As for wear on the cv's, you will have more wear on the cv's(not that much) unless you have locking hubs. If you have locking hubs you shouldn't worry at all since the cv's only spin when you lock them. If you do get a lift then you could always buy the drop brackets that would put the cv angles back to stock.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I do have locking hubs and they are always out except for when I hit the fields. I was going to get the drop kit if I did get a lift. Thanksfor the help. ;D

If you do decide to get a lift, which isn't needed for 31's on most trucks, don't bother with the diff drop. It will end up causing more problems. I had it on mine with the Revtek kit and I ended up sheering the bolt on the rear diff bracket and it pushed my diff/driveline up into the tranny, and it wore part way through the tranny before I could get off the trail and fix it.
