Hey, does anybody have any ideas about how I can lift my toy? I have never put a lift kit on a toyota so I dont know what kind of lift would be good for my toy. I hear a lot about the rear chevy spring swap, but then what would i do about the front springs? 1980 4x4 shortbed.

The chevy spring swap will give about 3 inches of lite. you will need to weld new spring hangers about 10 inches forward depending on your application. for the front i would take your rears and put them up front prlly building a hybrid pack. i have rears up front on my 1991 toyota, using the stock toy main and military wrap and a 3 inch lift military along with a ford f150 leaf and a jeep leaf and i flex craaaaaazy. if u are not into cuztom fab look at markin crawlers kit

hey rockcrawlintoy, I am assuming that for the front hybrid pack, I will just have to play around with some springs until i find the right combo huh? Looks like everybody is doing something different there.thanks

yeah i didnt have to play around much. the first pack i made were fine until i jumped the truck. something about 35-40mph in 3 feet of snow and hittin a jump didnt treat the srpings right. i actually ran them for another year. then built this pack. i read alot of what other did to get my pack right.

First question would be what do you want to use your truck for ? rocks, mud, trails ? is it a DD or trail only vehicle ? do you just want lift for bigger tires ? (if so, maybe a Body Lift will do) how much lift do you want/need ? (shackles and/or AALs are quick and cheap for 1-2") how much $$ do you have to spend ? what mechanical tools and skills do you have ? (if it's a DIY job) This would help determine what type suspension would be best. For example, Chevy's and rears-up-front make for a great rockcrawling suspension, but doesn't have the best on-road manners (not real DD friendly).

This truck is not a daily driver, I want to build it for rocks and trails. I only want 3-6 inches of lift and 33 inch tires. Yes, I have plenty of mechanical and fab skills and all the tools I will need. money isn't a big issue. I have a pair 63" chevy springs.
