I am finishing up my 4" Trail Gear setup in the front. I read that you have to put bumpstop extensions on along with the bumpstops to limit the springs upward travel to prevent them from sagging. It said that you wanted to set it up so that there was no more than a 3" space between the U-bolt flip plates and the bumpstop. It just seems to me that that would limit some of my compression that I am so looking forward to. The bilstein 5150's with the long shock hoops I am putting on will allow 5" of compression before they are fully compressed. Any thoughts on this?

they don't want you to negative arch the spring. if u set it up so that doesn't happen u should be good to go

My front suspension actually articulates more with the bump stops then it did without them. They act as a pivot. And i read 2-3 inches MAX so i set mine for just over two. Dumbass that i am i never considered while setting them up with the back end out and lowered that the front was sitting high because it was unloaded and i actually ended up with less then 2 inches. Hits pretty hard over the rough stuff at speed but has performed great offroad.
I ran my front without them for a long time and never had problems with rubbing, added bumpstop and noticed my tires started getting groves in them from rubbing on the firewall. (yes the seam is hammered down but you can only do so much with a hammer)
