First up..welcome...
1. with the 1.3L motor it seems i couldent tow my trailor with it, it is 22' long with all my motocross stuff in it. Can it? The 22re fourbanger is a tough little engine and you can do a lot with it. Your not gonna win any races but it will pull more than you think. If you want even more from the 4banger get a tacoma with the newer 4 cyl.
2. is the 4x4 dependible? i was told only to get a '85 and up. any thought? Toyota 4x4 is very dependable. Stay away from the ADD system (auto locking). Stick with manual hubs and you will be fine.
3. is it posible for me to do an engine convesion to like a chevy 302? With money you can do whatever you want. Check out advanced adaptors or downey offroad or read on the boards to see what other engines folks are throwing in. My advice is to use a 3.4L vortec V6..plenty stout and good on gas.
4. should i just buy a cool one off of ebay and wheel? If you find a good one anywhere its a good start. A stock toyota will surprise you off road regardless. With a locker in the rear you willl be flat stunned at what it can do. Good luck and have fun...

thanks for the help, i noticed the newer oned had inline sixes. BUT as a teen I have set my buget to $5,000. First i looked at samuries, (not many parts available). then i looked at a 94-96 2dr 4x4 chevy yucon(I really really want it! buts its out of my price range). Then i looked at toyotas. ALL of the kids at my school are RITCH unlike me. and they are all getting FORD (fix or repair daily) F250s with lifts and 44 boggers. I want something that is 4x4, able to tow my stuff, look cool with a lift and boggers, and i can mud in. Here in texas our mudd is the worst. it is clay, that is like quicksand but worse. I have nerowed my search down to and '86-'88 4x4 p/u. I think i will put like 35 mudbogers on it. it looks like that requires a 4" lift. I am new to mechanical stuff but i have seen some 3.4L vortec V6. I will probobly put an automatic transmision on it. I am going to need a lot of help! so recap: A '86-'88 4x4 p/u with a 4" stage 2 pro comp lift. 35" boggers. Yellow. with an automatic 3.4l v6.
thanks for the help!

check around for trucks already modified with the lift. For $5K you can get a lot in a used toy. Your also gonna need more lift to clear 35 boggers without rubbing. You might consider a couple inches of body lift on top of the 4in pro comp. By the way also check out doaracingengines.com You can modify your 4cyl to outrun your friends without doing a complete engine swap. Besides you can brag its all toyota and still faster than their big heavy full size trucks... Later
