I'm just thinking about it but. I might get some custom tube bumpers made and have thought about using them as air tanks. My question is how do u figure out how much PSI it will be able to hold?

They would have to be some large tubes and fairly thick not to hold the air but if your gonna use it as a bumper and I'm not saying you go around slamming into things ;D but being used as a dual purpose for safety the tubes are going to have to be able to withstand a heavy impact and not rupture a small air pig only holds enough air for 1 mabey 2 tires so if you can get one tube to hold more than that amount a dubble should work the only question I have is this a DD

Hmmm... doesnt sound too safe to me... Hitting a tree/car/rock could make for a dangerous impact, also if you drove it on the road and got in a fender bender, you could get into some legal stuff... Just my .02 Howabout making your roll bar hold air or just tuck a few smaller tanks under the body and in engine bay?
Later, and good luck

Take it from me, it sounds like a good idea, but man oh man will it scare the crap out of you if you crack the tube or something. A friend of mine had one on his truck and coming down a hill he hit a rock on hte end of the bumper and it was enought to make a hole and then woosh/bam happened. I thought somehting exploded. There was dust, leaves and junk flying all over the place. I couldn't even see my friend who was only about 10 - 15 feet in front of me. Like I said scared the crap out of me.

when i think of bumpers, i think of protection, not an air tank. if you got those, you'd always be a little weary about puncturing them when approaching or departing an obsticale, and if you puncture it, all you have is a nice hallow bumper for the time being
