Are you just looking for things to whine about ? Jumping thru a "hoop" every couple of years to access a FREE board should be the least of your problems. Grow up.

Im sorry, perhaps you think that being a "free" board is such a gift?!?!
I on the other hand there are a plethora of various message boards out there i can be active in that don't require urine and DNA samples ever couple of years to be part of it. oh and are free also. (as if thats a big deal these days)
Ya so i suppose if i dont like it THAT much i could go elsewhere.
Just seems counterproductive to piss off the few of us that have been around awhile and spend MUCH more time answering questions than asking stupid ones.
but then again Im speaking for myself only soo...

First, regardless of how much traffic the 86-95 board gets, this is not a topic that belongs there. It will be moved. Second, the board upgrade was done by the FREE company that manages the boards. I have no control over it. There are tons more features with the new release and the "hoops" you have to jump through to get on are for YOUR security. We have been on ProBoards since 7/2003. We switched from that piece of crap board we had before to this one for the huge improvement in friendlieness not to mention they closed down. I personally don't like that users have to sort of re-register, but that is the way it is. Now that you've taken care of it, you won't have to do anything else. As for being free, yes, you should be greatful. I don't make you pay to have stars or access certain parts of the board. If you want to pay to get rid of the google ads, more power to ya, but we aren't shoving it down your throat like other boards do. The Aussie ad helps pay my bills. Enjoy. ;D

I understand it cost money to run a site. I dont mind the adds, infact there are times when i find the content specific adds helpful and actually will 'pick' them. As for the re-registering thing, ya it sucks, and well that was my point. my security? As an IT geek for a job, i fail to understand how divulging more personal info (like my birthday) is suppose to help protect me more. (yes im 105 if you must know) anyway rant over...

Security is simple. By creating the activation code it helps verify that yes, you are the intended user of this account. There have been faudulant users attempt to get on other peoples accounts in the past. Don't ask why, people, in general, are stupid. In addition, knowing your birthday is a matter of legality. Boards and other sites are not permitted to retain information that has come from an individual younger than 13 years old. Security - yes, your security. By going through the activation process, it serves as a record stating that you are who you say you are blah blah blah... bottom line, I manage the entire network for a large company and while security is a necessary, it can be a pain. These policies help you as well as limit the liability of the hosting company (that would be ME and proboards). Look, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. And thanks for clicking the ads.

Thanks for the support Hare... but, there will be no banning. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Even if it is wrong.
