Hey guys, I finally got power and broadband back so I thought I would stop in and say Hi! As some of you know, I live in South central Mississippi. It is crazy down here. We had 100% power loss and many are still powerless. My Toyota has performed admirably. I have transported personnel and supplies, I have winched trees on the roads, and I have been a local guide showing the power crews how to navigate the trails so they can fix some of the remote power lines. It was like Hiroshima down here without the fallout. God Bless anyone caught down here in this mess! For those of you in other places, please conserve fuel.

The Toyota's save the day huh? lol. Anyway, Katrina was prolly the worst hurricane to hit the US. So yeah, its a bitch. and with the gas issues its even more of a bitch. While my yota is down I'm driving my brothers 04 ram while he's away so I have to pay $60+ a week for gas. My brother drives truck cross country and gets 7-8mpg and $600+ to fill the 2 tanks. Right now he said that if it keeps up almost every trucker will go broke or they'll go on strike...wich will stop all food, clothes, ect. from going across the country

Man my heart goes out to anyone stuck down there in that mess. I've been watching on the net and tv about how bad things are and I can't fathom how bad it must be. I couldn't even think about losing everything and then not even being able to do anything about it but sit in a hotel room and watch. Well done on using your capable rig to help out. i started carpooling today just to help conserve fuel and save some money. The one thing that chaps my hide the most about all this is the looters and the ones taking advantage of this tragedy. Yeah i would probably steal some food and water for my family if I was stuck there without it. But that doesn't mean I'm going to walk off with a TV and someone elses possesions. It's really sickening. But there are a lot of idiots out there. I've heard of people shooting at the helicopters and boats that are trying to help. Thats got to be the most idiotic thing I have ever heard. But i know there are a lot of good people down there that will get it back together and under control. Good luck to all you guys down there. Our hearts do go out to ya and we hope you get back on your feet soon.

I agree with you snorkelman, their are alot of idiots down there. But there are people that are trying as hard as they can to help out. My brother from VA. was thinking about going down, although I doubt he will. If I was closer I know I'd help.
I've been to New Orleans once, and I can't believe how much it's changed, and I've only seen pictures of it and video clips and it doesn't even look like the same place.

My heart goes out for all of the people in the hurricane ravaged places. Ive been though big storms and I know how much damage one can do. Two years ago we had a little cat. 1 storm come through here and there are still people living in trailers in front for their homes. I cant even begin to imagine a cat. 5 here much less being 14 ft below sea level when one comes in.
Thank God I drive a yota that gets good gas mileage. I guess the Mustang will stay in its stall until the gas prices go down. (small price to pay) I also feel bad for the people that are just making it and now they have to pay 4 or 5 dollars for gas a gallon. If the gas prices stay up for long it will cause people not to get to work then I see the country might go into a depression. We have to remember that the little people in this country keep it going, not the oil tycoons.
Again, my heart goes out to each and every one of you and I hope you make it out.

I spent 2 1/2 weeks in LA - Baton Rouge, Bogalusa, and Covington providing medical aide to those that needed it. Bogalusa was hit pretty hard and the resources (including relief workers) were getting worn out by then. I wish nothing but the best to the folks of LA (except the dirty cops and thugs) our initial point was New Orleans but everyone was pulled from there due to the violence. Best of luck to the Gulf area, I am sure I will be back down in a few more weeks - had to come back home to IA and put some normalcy back into my own family for a while.
