whats the deal with all these magazine jeeps having these premier power welders in their trucks? They look like a piece of junk and aren't powerful enough to weld anything hardly. if you want a junky welder hook two car batteries together and bring 2 jumper cables and some spare rod. anyways they are really expensive too, like 900 bucks. me and my dad just bought a little lincoln gas powered welder for 650 bucks on clearance at home depot. i guarantee you that little lincoln will outweld anything that belongs on a jeep

the good thing about the lincoln is that you don't have to have someone in your truck on the gas pedal while your welding, and on the lincoln you can just pull it out and use it to power a frig or whatever if the power goes out. the welder is actually pretty small, it fit in the back seat of my 4runner no problem

This welder your talking about (lincoln mig) is it a DC powered welder? Where would you plug in a lincoln mig welder on the trail out in the middle of nowhere, unless you have one hell of a power inverter or a generator?! Sounds kinda iffy if you ask me.

Im pretty sure hes talking about small gas motor driven welder. We have one. Its a 170 amp DC stick welder. Its about the same size as a generator and its a Honda. It is a 4000 Watt generator also. Its a pretty good little machine for what it is but its nothing as smooth as our 600 amp hobart but it does a great job for being 250 pounds.

yeah i was talking about an arc welder, ours has a little 9hp robin subaru engine and is a pretty good little welder, but i agree something more powerful and permanent will work better.

whats the deal with all these magazine j**ps having these premier power welders in their trucks? They look like a piece of junk and aren't powerful enough to weld anything hardly. Have you seen one of these in action to legitimately evaluate it? Or do you just dislike it so much because it's advertised on a JEEP? I've actually seen one in action, and they work just fine. They dont take up any room like a stand-alone gas engine powered unit would (not to mention the weight, nothing like an extra 100 pounds or so on the trail). The one I saw was in a 4Runner, and you don't need someone on the gas pedal, there is a manual idle up adjust cable. Additionally, the high output alternator is a bonus, for winching, etc.
