I just took a road trip down to Port Aransas, TX last weekend and I was kinda wondering bhow my 86 4runner was going to do, but after the drive there it started running better than it usually does. I have no clue why but after burning a few tanks of gas through it in just a couple of days it's performance has increased alot. Plus I was playing around in the sand, and my rear tires started spinning and the drivers side tire stopped moving all together, now I'm unsure if the guy that had it before me put a locker or lockers in. Is there anyway I can test it, or do I have to pull it apart and look?

as for if you have a locker just jack the rear end of the runner up to were both tires are off the ground. block the front tires so the runner dosen't move. take the runner out of gear and spin one of the tires by hand. if the other tire spins the other direction than no locker. if you have a locker than both tires will turn the same direction. from what you said in your post i would say you do not have a locker in the rear. now if he put a ARB locker or e-locker in than you would have to engage the lockers to have it work. if you have an air line or a couple of wires that go to the 3rd member then you might have an ARB or an e-locker. just my $.02! later!
