10 months and finally its started again! I hope all the hunters on the board here have had good luck or is goin to bag a few nice ones. Bow season started here several weeks ago in a few select urban countys but sat was the opening for my county. I got to go out monday after work and baged a small dominant 8 pointer thats been rubbing up the woods behind my house. He came in with 4 other scrubs and 2 does. It was hard to get him to commit to me with the wind in his face and me sittin on the ground in blind i had made 40 minutes before hand, but patience paid off and let me make a 12 yard clean shot. Hes not the biggest thing thats on the wall in my house, but after a long 10 month wait for the season to open it sure was nice to bag a decent deer to start off the season. Id liek to see some other stories posted up and pics to go along with your deer, turkey, bear, elk, etc.

Me and a few of my friends are going out this weekend to see if we cant shoot some deer, partridge, ducks, rabbit, and maybe a moose and a bear. And we'll see if we cant catch some fish while we're at it. Ill say if we get anything or not.

What the hell are you going to do....Throw a grenade into the woods and see what dies?

pretty sad when you get satisfaction from killing unarmed animals where you have 100% advantage over it. That isn't saying much. Kill it with your bare hands then I'll give you props.

Well we got 7 birds, a duck, and a rabbit. I was pretty close to a deer. I followed it for about 45 mins and I was close enough that I could hear it walking but I never got a shot at it. But Im going to give it another try this weekend.

How does hunting to kill animals and hitting a deer on the interstate relate to one another bowshtr?

Deer and the interestate......hmmm i wonder why i see soo many dead along side it? Its because roads are everywhere, the amount of hunters(conservationists) have decreased over the years, human pop has grown and cities have expanded, resulting in less land, more cars, more condensed deer that run across the road only to be hit by your gas guzzling grocery gitter.

I'm no hunter by any means. I am however a more than avid shootist. For the basic reason if something should happen to our spoiled way of life. I can put some form of dead animal on my dinner table. I have great repect for bow hunters. It takes a very high level of patience and dicipline to do this type of hunting. I myself concider them to be true hunters. Any moron can shoot one with a rifle or shotgun but a true marksman uses a bow. This post was started by and for deer hunters if you don't agree with it then start your own thread.Hunters are a big reason that a lot of the trails that we all use are still open in our state forrests. If they stop hunting then the trails will be shut down and no one can use them. Ther are still a lot of people in this country that HAVE to rely on hunting as means of providing for their families . I myself have a lot of relatives who are farmers in MN that feed the entire family all year long by hunting and fishing. And myself being from a very poverty stricken part of the south. It's a way of surviveing So think real hard before you attack someone elses means of provision. We don't all live in urban surroundings. We all can't just go to the corner store for what we need. btw Bowstr nice buck bro! and yes here on the rightcoast we count all the pionts do to the fact they almost never match right for left could have 4 on one side and 5 on the other.

Thanks Hoodlum.
And to quote Norcal about killing a deer with your bare hands... I was out riding around one night a year or so ago in the snow and all the sudden two does jumped out in front of my truck causing them to both become paralyzed. I did not have a knife, gun, or bow on hand to put the animals down and i couldnt sit there and watch them suffer for hours on end so I took the initiative to kill them bare handed. This is not something I am proud of or like to talk about. But one thing is for sure, it was prolly the worst thing i have ever had to do in my life.

Well....I know people where I live and I hear them talking about hunting like it's a game. And they brag about it like their big and bad for killing deer. I don't believe hunting should be looked at like a game. If it's for survival then it's 100% serious...and people around here don't hunt to survive, I completely spaced to realize that's why you're hunting. I grew up hunting and am glad that I have the ability to survive if I need to.....but I won't kill animals ever again for the "sport" of hunting.

I totally understand what you mean. I have pulled myself away from certain people i grew up with due to their ways of hunting which is not done in an ethical manor. With everything there is always someone or some people out there in the world that will make a bad name for others.
Just like with 4wheeling, there used to be some real badass spots to wheel around here but people had to go in there, trash the place, go where they werent supposed to go, and tear up food plots etc, which in turn ruined it for the trail friendly people who respected the land, the land owners and the law. Now this place is closed to the public and cops patrol it regularly on atv's.
