Yeah it was fun for a few minutes but it grossed me out when I reeled in a trash eater. I wish I coulda caught a few more trout. I got a buddy that caught a 13 lb Brown out of the exact same fishin hole that I was fishin but only a day later. It pissed me off and made me real jealous. That asshole,

You all are lucky that your lakes and rivers are melting. We still have about 3 feet of ice on the lakes. But it is starting to warm up around here a bit. I'm going home on the weekend of the 30th and my dad and I are going to take his plane which is on skis and do a bit of fly in lake trout fishing before the ice starts getting bad. They are still hauling dumptruck loads of gravel and everyone on the lake right now and probably for the next 2 weeks or so when the ice starts getting iffy. Our ice doesn't go out till mid to late April to early May. The latest ice out we had was May 21st.

Went out to Pathfinder and caught 37 Rainbows and 19 Walleye. Smallest Walleye was 18 inches the biggest was 28 inches. The smallest trout was 14 inches and the biggest was 32 inches and weighed over 7 lbs. There was one point when I was reeling in one fish, got a bite on my other rod so I picked it up and set the hook on it and started walking up the bank while my buddy Eric was reeling in a fish. One got away and the other stayed on. The one was a 23 inch 3 3/4 lb Waller. It was a hell of a day.

My dad and I took his plane out on skis on Friday and caught out limits of walleye and a few northern. One of the walleyes was 8 pounds and one northern was 10. My dad has one of those vexilars and it worked pretty good. We took the plane off the ice on sat because its getting warm and the ice is going to be going out in a few week. You cant use your trucks on the ice anymore but you can still use 4wheelers. Winters not over yet. We are supposed to be getting between 6 and 10 inches of snow in the next 2 days.

Whats a mud puppie? I don't think we have those here. We caught a steelhead the other day out of the Current River here and cooked it up on the bbq. The ice is almost out enough to get a boat in now .

Went out to the Platte again and tried some fly fishing with two other friends. I was the only one to catch one and it was a damned crawdad anyways.

By the way, does anyone in here know anything about frying crawdads? I kept the one that I caught, it is like 5 inches long and I have heard that they taste really good. I am also thinking about raising them if anyone has any tips on that it would be much appreciated.

A mud puppy is pretty (gross) much a giant slamander. They are a pain in the ass they always swallow hooks and you get excited cause you thing a sturgeon is hitting your line but nope sick little mud puppy. I havent fried crawdads but i have eaten them boiled and they are pretty good(my opinion) anyways they make a kick-ass small mouth bass bait..
