well heres my problem: i have an 86 toyota pickup in my back yard which i am soon to buy an engine for. well here lately my mother and father do not really think that the truck would be worth fixing up, cause its been sitting at our other house for about 5 years and they say that a whole bunch of other stuff is gonna be wrong with it. but i dont care, the truck used to belong to my father who i dont really get to spend much time with so this truck reminds me of him. that and i dont care if it breaks ill fix it cause one day i wanna be in the automotive industry so if it does break down i can only learn from how to fixit which will help me one day. but seeing as how my parents are against the idea its kinda been making me think that this truck might be more trouble than its worth. well if anyone would like to influence me on which way to go before i get the engine it would be greatly appreciated

;D There are 2 things in this world that nobody will take away from me: my Mom & my truck. Sounds like this truck's the same for you. Need I say more? Later...

yea you guys are right. im going to put that engine in that truck. and it is going to be soon to cause we just got through building this other shed so we could clear out the shed we need to lift the old engine. hopefully that part of the swap will not be that bad . ok crayons i will putup some pics if i can but its not going to be pretty. i have the hood off with the engine opened up(no valve cover) and as usual the body is rusted like crazy but sure i will see if i can put pics up.

Good move my father was recently diagonsed with cancer in 5 different organs. I am currently working on a build that he can drive. When he had his back surgery to remove the previous tumors they screwed up some nerves that lead to his left foot and to his right hand so I am doing a build that will allow him to go wheeling with me.

if you build it they will come young man....BUILD THAT TRUCK, its intact best I can tell by he pics....put you and engine in, also while you got the engine out make sure the torque convertor is not froze up..before you get the engine in do litlle things, check all the diffs and trans case, make sure they arent full of water.....if your like me as soon as it cranks your gonna cut out down the road, go ahead and do the things that take little time but can be costly if you dont, all fluids(brakes, diffys, trans case, tranny) better start workin on the brakes now while your waiting on your engine, after five years hmmm..they probably have issues dont you guys agree. Congrats on such a great truck GO FOR IT MAKE DAD PROUD..... Bill

im not exactly sure how to move a thread but when i do find out i will. great idea too about checkin the brakes cause i noticed when we moved it from one town to the next we had to put it on a trailer and it was so hard to make it stop i had to pull the e-brake so yea im going out tomarrow (which is sunday and im so happy cause no school lol) and i got to start to clean all the parts i need for the next engine, so that should be one way to fill up a sunday lol.

the body looks to be in great shape, but that engines going to need some work. if i was you id build it. at least make it a DD. looks great, and im sure youll decide the right thing to do. Breaks arnt that bad to work on, Just messy and rusty. Depending on how long its been sitting, the calipers and drums might all be frozen, rebuild kits for the drums are cheap, and calipers are pretty easy to rebuild/change. and the rotors are prolly definatly shot too. but, hey, at least you have something to work from. Good Luck and keep us posted! Here, this is what i want to see from you in the future. except with more of a lift, cuz i think these tires will rub a little. But hey, i did it in MS paint and i think i did a ok job. Enjoy.

go head man, its all yours. are all the tires the same brand/tread pattern? or is that one an oddball. you might just want to get one that matches the rest of them.

my 2 back tires are the same type and size and my 2 front tires are different sizes but same type back and front are 2 different types of tires. my front left is the only non 31" it is a p235 size tire.

OMG the most amazing thing has just happened in my life. well for you all to fully understand why this even is as great as i make it out to be then youll have to hear what ive been through. recently i moved from my beloved town and friends in mobile and its been about a year now since i first moved away and ive been missing them like crazy. well recently my father, who i havent seen in a while and havent seen often is going to move to mobile to start a new job/carrer and i did not know this till like the other day when i talked to him on the phone. and well seeing as how he is moving back to mobile then i decided that i will be able to spend more time him if i moved in with him, so i told him that i want to move in with him. the only thing is i am hoping that i will have this truck ready by the tim hes gets back. can anyone give me a rough estimate on how long they think an engineswap will take to complete? because im hoping to be able to swap the engines before i leave which hopefully will be about a month....so if anyone can tell me if it can be done then plz tell me if it can and how....

Depends on how much time you put into it/ your expierence. ive seen an engine swap take place in a day, but it took all day. Plus they had all the right tools and a hoist. i think if you really want it bad enough you can make it happen

yea hope fully it wont take to long cause at my house we are building a new shed so that we can take all the crap from the shed that we need to hoist the engine out, and put the crap in another shed. were almost done with the shed, we just have to put the walls up (we already have the roof and platform for floor) and hopefully that will be all. the only thing that is worring me is that we have to get all new rubber hosings and i may have lost one or 2 bolts or screws ( i know i lost one of the valve cover nuts). but if they are easy to get then i think ill be in good shape. other than that i think it should go smoothly. this is the engine that i wanna get. its on ebay ( dont worry cause when the time runs out for the engine the company that sells them reposts another engine of same kind again) cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-22RE-ENGINE-7-YEAR-70-000-MILE-WARRANTY_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33615QQihZ009QQitemZ190107939090QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW this website will only last for 5 more days then they will put up another engine. copy and paste the website lol
