There has 2 b other TOY wheelers in MN besides me with access to a comp., how about Wis. or ND, SD. I"m not that far from any of those states. lookin to wheel with other toy owners, but will settle for any other brand of 4x4, 2 just have a good time wheelin!!!!

I hope you still get responses to this, but yes I own a toy and yes I'm from Minnesota. Actually, there's a chance you might even know roughly where I live. My address is officially Eveleth, but I live in Fayal. That puts me about 3 miles from the Iron Range Off Highway Recreation Area. If you ever come up this way, drop me a line. Also, you might want to consider joining MN ToyX4 if you're looking for other Minnesotan toyota enthusiasts although the majority of their rigs are more Chevy than Toyota. You'd think Toys came with a sbc from the factory by the number of them running around....

Thanks for the response experience03,its good to hear from a fellow minnosotan don't ya know! j/k, I finally fixed my 85 runner, new rings, timing, comp. cam and everything else that goes with it, love the cam, just need to open up the intake a little with a new air filter, probably a k&n drop in with a few mods to the airbox. If i ever get up that way i will defenitly let ya know.

Is there anywhere to ride around Alexandria? I've only been ther a few times when I was too young to drive. In fact, I've hardly spent anytime in that middle part of the state, but 169 runs right through town here so it's not a bad drive :-?

Sorry it took so long to reply, I dont have access to the comp. as much as i used to. There really aren't many places to ride down here, mainly farm land and lakes everywhere, no trails at all !!!!! I have a couple of friends up in Walker Mn, we have gone on a few old logging trails, that was a blast. Wheeling around Alex. is mainly dirt roads after it rains. I would love to visit northern Mn and try to tackle some trails, although I don't have any lockers YET!! and only 31" BFG all-terraines, I'm pretty new to trail riding but would love to learn. Do you wheel in the winter or are the trails closed?

Do you wheel in the winter or are the trails closed? You don't need lockers & 37's to have a good time. Gilbert/Iron Range OHV park (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/iron_range/index.html) is open year-around (only weekends in the winter) & even the easy trails get gnarly in the snow. Last time I was up there was 2 weeks before Xmas, -12 degrees outside & slipperier than all hell. It was great! Spider Lake OHV (http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/spider_lake/index.html) closes the end of this month & is our personal favorite for wheeling within 2 hours of the Metro area. Be warned: deer hunting IS allowed there before the OHV season ends, so we wheel late in the year with our emergency blinkers on when on some of the tighter trails & trust me, they're all that way. A short wheelbase is your friend @ SL & I've received more body damage there than in Moab. For the best in logging roads & northern woods beauty, Superior National & Grand Portage State forests are the finest. A heads up if @ GP running the border trails (our other major favorite place): Border Patrol is present (they do not mess around) - you will run into them if wheeling Rengo Road, Partridge Falls or Cowboy's & cell phones DO NOT work, so make sure to go with someone & go VERY prepared - it is remote & the weather is extremely changeable. But nothing beats it for cross-country 4X4'ing. See ya out there!

Hey guys whats up. I am in the navy stationed out near seattle washington, but i will be moving back home this next summer. I have been away for 8 years. I remeber a buddy of mine was part of an off road club. they use to go up to the iron range allot and they also had a few places around foley and brainerd. Hope you find a bunch of places to wheel.

Another fun place I discovered by accident is Seven Cities near Grand Rapids. I got invited to go out with the local club after getting my truck aligned at a club member's shop. It's a GREAT place for what it is. I would suggest going with someone else (as always) because it's possible to get in real trouble. As always, post if ya'll have a trail run coming up. I'm always interested.

The hubby & I run both our rigs @ Spider Lake OHV, perfect for small wheel-based vehicles. He brings the Super Zuki & I drive my 'Yota. We leave the Taco @ home. Zuk Nation has an annual run @ SL OHV each Memorial Day weekend. We think we'll be there. The only vehicle my little 4-banger can recover. LOL!!!
