ok, 1 more question that i hope that you can help me with. how in the heck do you get the spare tire off of an 83 short bed 4x4? again I dont have the owners manual and the chiltons doens't explain it. Thanks

its an 83, i will put money on you having to cut it off, thats what i had to do.
butm if you want to try, use the handle from the jack, and insert it in the hole in the roll pan just above the license plate. when the hook goes into the slot above te tire, try to turn it.
