I'm wondering what gears came stock in my '84 SR5 pickup? Were there different ratios available from the factory? If so, what would determine which ratios the truck came with? It has a 5-speed if that makes any difference.
The tires on it now are 30x9.5" BFG All Terrains. They're in decent condition so I'll keep them 'til they wear out, but then would like to upgrade to a larger tire, either 31s or 32s.
Thanks!

The most common ratio for a 4 cyl/5 spd combo is 4.10. Somewhere is a chart for figuring it out from the VIN, if I find it I'll post it.

;D Either on your firewall or door jamb will be a sticker/tag w/a bunch of #'s. What you're looking for is the one starting w/ "G". Post that # & I'll look it up for Ya. Later...

Just thought I throw in the old school method for determineing the ratio.
Lift and block the rear. Mark the tire and make a corresponding mark on the frame. Mark the pinion flange and make a cooresponding mark on the diff. Now turn the driveshaft counting the revolutions it takes for the tire to make a complete revolution. Just under 4 turns=3.90, just over =4.10. 4 and half turns will be 4.56 and just a c-hair short of five turns will be 4.88's.
