i can get a 2wd 83 ish pick up for FREE. i have acsess to front a rear axles and sevral trannys and t-cases. my question is about the chassie. are the 2wd and 4wd frames the same or at least similer enough to convert? this is gonna be a all out cab truck with 0 street time. spools front and rear. i understand a convo will be a major project but is it worth it? i have a 1/2 ton ram i am doing a 1 ton swap on and it is my prymary rig but i am not at the point where i wanna open up sheet metal on it yet. the yota will be a budget build so money is deffinitly an object. thanks for the info! ;D

Hey man yeah I believe the frames are the same. never heard anything contrary. If you have everything to make it happen all your lacking is the metal to put it all together. Your just gonna have to fab up some crossmembers like a solid axle swap and convert it over. I'm not sure about the steering box. i believe yours is a push pull box. Might need to get a IFS 4x4 box. Heck if the truck is free and it is gonna be only off road you have a lot of options. You could even hack the frame and tube that badboy. keep the frame up front and tube the rear with coils. Kinda all depends if your doing the fabbing or having to pay to have it done. Its up to you but sounds like a go to me. Good luck. If you do decide to do it...take some pics and send it to the board. Mike will post it up and we can all check it out.
