I am thinking about buying either one of these trucks: The first one is a 1982 Toyota 4x4 short bed, 22R, 186K miles, new front breaks for $2100 obo, all stock. The other is a 1983 4x4 with a 4" lift for $2900 obo What do you think? I am located in Washington state. Thanks for the help!

i'd go for the 82... but its up to you, what ever you like better, the 83 will have a bit more abuse...

;D WAY TOO MANY variables for anybody not "on the scene" to answer this ?? A few parts would make these trucks equal. Pick the best one for what you want to do. Later...

Yeah, what 4xfred said. EX: If you want put the lift on yourself or put on a different lift. Go for the 82. If the 83 already has good start for what you want, go for it. Plus there the fact of running conditions (engine, tranny, running gear, etc). I would a think for that price that all should be fine unless it has alot of special items on it (roll bars, lights, tube bumpers, big engine, etc.)
