I just bought a 1980 toyota pickup with a chevy v6 and chevy transmission i have no clue what size v6 it is and the guy i bought it from never new either how would i find out i think its the 4.3 but its small and it still delivers good power with 38inch boggers on it anyone suggestions? Thanks and also i wanted to know what kind of transfer case is on it because i know its not a stock toyota one because of the shift pattern

Post a pick of the transfer, I'm guessing it's a 205.

Probably a 4.3. The only other Chevy V6 I can think of is the 2.8, but that really isn't worth going to all the trouble to swap it in.

I was actually lookin around and I think its a 3.8 v6 its a gm engine used in buicks and others 262 cubic inch but then again i could be wrong

I'm pretty sure the buick V6 will have the distribitor up front and the chev in the rear. At least this what I've heard, I'm far from a being a Chevy guy.

yes you are right the 4.3 has the distributer in the rear and so does this engine so now I guess its an old 4.3

I was actually lookin around and I think its a 3.8 v6 its a gm engine used in buicks and others 262 cubic inch but then again i could be wrong FWIW, the Buick 3.8 is 231 CID, was also used in Pontiac's and Olds's (never Chevy's) and definitely has the distrib in the front. Oh yeah, the 231 is also used in Toyota's ;D
