my front driveline on my 82 toy is shot. My friend has anm 88 parts truck that he has given me free reign to and I was wondering if the front driveline would swap over to my 82. The 88 is ifs so I didn't know for sure. Thanks!

The 88 IFS front driveshaft has a lot LESS drop. Meaning the CV won't extend like your solid axle driveshaft. I have never tried this but Im pretty sure it won't work. The IFS is a stationary diff so they never manufactured the driveshaft to move around as much as your 82 requires.

It's even a different bolt pattern. You can buy or make adapters to get around this. Could be modified to work. The IFS cv can be clearanced for better droop, but you might also have to lengthen the shaft as well as as the slip. The IFS diff never moves, the transfer never moves, so there is no real need for a long slip joint in stock configuration. Not so for a solid axle truck.

Youre better off finding the same replacement used for cheap, or rebuilding yours. Rgds, Dennis

;D The '88 shaft would work after much modification. Bt the time you got done, you'd be better off redoing yours or buying one. Later...
