I have a stock 85 pickup I am looking to lift. I have been looking at suspention lifts but have never lifted a truck before so am a little lost. I think I want to get either a 4.5in superlift kit with front leaf springs and rear add-a-leafs. Or a 3.5in Tuff country kit with front springs and rear add-a-leaf as well. I plan on running 33 12.50's. For the moment I am going to school in AZ, but the truck will soon be moving back to WA to enjoy mud again. Please tell me yer thoughts, make any suggestions, and such.

;DExcellent & welcome to TOR!!! Is this a DD? What kind of budget are you on? Are the 33s "for now"? The more info you give us, the more we can help you. Either lift you mentioned will get you what you want. But may not be the best bang for your buck. Later...

Ok....As I said earlier I am completely new at this, so sorry for my lack of knowkedge, but I don't know what "DD" is.... As for tires, after I move back to WA I plan on adding a 2" body lift and running 35's. So actually I guess I need to know what i need to put on to run 35's once I add 2 aditional inches to it. As for my budget, I would like to spend no more then 600, 700 max on the lift, which me and my buddy will install ourselves. THanks

Ok guy I have the exact same truck. And presently I Think I can fit 35's under it might need a little fender shaving though. But anyways I'm running a 3" body lift (same price as a 2" from central4Wheeldrive in Kent) and I have 3" shakles. all this cost $200 wooo lol. but I have a 3" suspension lift I'm going to throw on soon. and then get my 35's :-D. Front springs and blocks because I'm really poor lol. but currently I have 33's on there with plenty of room. so you should have no problem at all have fun.

Hey Shib...welcome.
DD means daily driver. Fred wanted to know how often you would be driving the truck to give you a line of attack on the lifting. Yeah it sounds like a body lift would work for ya. If you wanna run 35's I would go ahead and get the 3" body lift. If the tires rub when your turning hard or when off roading, you can trim the fenders some. Not a big deal. Later on down the road when you got more cash, I would look into a suspension lift if you want to do serious off roading. The body lift will work but doesn't help in terms on ground clearance. Good luck man...

ok, daily driver, that makes sence, lol. It is halfway a daily driver. I use it to go where ever I need to go by myself, but me and a buddy car pool to work, so I really only drive it on the weekends. Tell me how this sounds...
Get the... 1) 3.5in sus lift from Tuff Country 2) Run 33's for the moment 3) Get the body lift when I head back home(and have ma car to drive as well) 4) Then put the 35's on....

;D Not the best on the market but... both Downey & Northwest have 3-3.5" 4 spring kits for under $400. I'd look @ going that way before blocks or AAL's. Just MHO. Later...

Checked out Downey and Northwest, think I will go with one of them, kinda leaning toward Northwest, being the WA boy I am ;D. thanks for the suggestion 4xfred, why I came here....not knowing really what to get. Trying to not become annoying... but there is one more thing I need to ask... Assuming I buy the 3.5" springs from Northwest, what shocks would you recomend? Another thing there seem to be way too many to choose from And to think, I thought selecting the truck I wanted was hard... lifting it is a nightmare, so many ways to do it, so many brands, "sighs"

I really like Bilsteins. They work really well and aren't stiff like some others.

;D Said it before...Bilsteins are the shock of choice. My Rough Country Hydros get the job done w/o beating you up. All comes down to budget. If you do go w/NWOR., ask for Chet. He helped me out alot.(hmm, kind of gives me an idea) Later...

All Pro front leaf springs are now only 199 a set. I would rather run these with blocks in the back then stiff ones from some other company. They are available in stock lengths or extended, in 3,4 and 5 " lift. Check out. www.allprooffroad.com/If you are looking for three inches of lift you could also do the chevy spring swap in the rear for under 120 bucks. Good flex, and a good ride for a good price. Check out the details in the faq section of this site.

For springs I would get 2.5 or 4in yj's. I know its a jeep part but they're super flexy and you can get a set for about $125 I believe. For the rear do a chevy spring swap. This should give you about 3-5in of lift and if you run a b/l you should have plenty of lift to clear 35's. I've seen this setup in person on about 3 differnent trucks, they all work awsome and flex great.
