Hey guys,
I have a 85 toyota with high steer. I just bolted 8 degree shim under the 4.5" lift springs in the front. I did have to disconnect the high steer to be able to lift the springs high enough to do the work, but didn't change the ball postions at all. After I was done the steering seemed to be loose or shakey. I don't have a steering stabalizer on it, never put it back on after putting the high steer on two years ago. Steering did fine till now. Think it could just be alignment? Not sure, haven't checked to see how close it was. Didn't think doing this would have change it any. Any thoughts or ideas. Thanks
By the way I also put 8 degree shims in the back.

The 8* shim has thrown your caster off, resulting in the "shimmy", etc. in your steering.
An alignment will not correct this, there is no adjustment. You can try a smaller * shim, or rotate the knuckles on the axle housing, which is major surgery.
